Brandon Young 1:43

God, that was such a great introduction, I appreciate that, I’m gonna have to clip that and put it somewhere. Much

Joshua Chin 1:51

I aim that’s i aim to Please, that’s my, my job is to make you look as great as possible. But that’s it’s all true. Like, I mean, when when I look at the and you told me this, that this is not your first business that you have, what 15 other businesses that you’ve tried and failed in to some degree? And how do you maintain the level of drive that you have today, and maybe talk a little bit about your history and how you came into the Amazon space?

Brandon Young 2:23

Okay, entrepreneurship is hard, man. And what’s amazing is, you don’t know what you don’t know. And I think as you get older and you fail more, you just get better at, at learning from every mistake, and even the successes you have to learn from so. I think that when I met my now wife, um, you know, I was I was doing okay, but I had found more success in investing in other people’s businesses as an angel investor at that time, right. And it’s more like I could guide but I couldn’t do. And when I met her, those things change because she’s, she’s a really good operator. And I’m more of a visionary. And as we read and learned more, we hired a CEO coach, we invested in education. And I was able to relate a lot of the lessons I had learned to understanding the different roles of different people in businesses. And I’d realized that, you know, like being outside your comfort zone is good to an extent. But a lot of times you just have to surround yourself with the right people. And my wife and I just a really complementary with regards to that. And that was kind of the, the the magic sauce there for us.

Joshua Chin 3:42

So that was a tipping point. You think?

Brandon Young 3:44

Yeah, that was a big tipping point for sure. And she drives like we drive each other. Right? Yeah, she works just as hard or harder than I do. You know, we’re at the office 6070 hours a week with, oh, wow, we drive up to the office, you know, around lunchtime, and we’re here till 230 In the morning, and, you know, six days a week, and we’re living almost that 996 that you hear about in in China, right? I guess she originally from China. But the funny thing is, we don’t even think of it as work. We take a break for lunch, we’re talking we’re interactive. And we love what we do. And I I’m basically the CEO of the coaching business at this point, and she’s basically the CEO of our brands business, but we have overlap and we work with each other. I still have roles in that business. She still has helped me a lot in the coaching business. And the more we see do and talk and we get to interact, it’s just you know, at this point, it’s it’s been such a great relationship that that we drive each other.

Joshua Chin 4:48

It’s incredible. Taking a step back a little bit what what were some of the most memorable failures that you have encountered in your entrepreneurship journey?

Brandon Young 5:00

I’ve got I’ve got a few but I put on a an event post, I put on a party, a New Year’s Eve party one year, and I lost six figures in one night. That was, that was probably one of my most memorable feature like, like, failures still makes me sick to my stomach to think about it. But I hired a famous artist to come to a party a block away from the, from the venue. She didn’t show up. And I had refunds, I had a line out the door, I had people upset. I just, you know, and then didn’t sell enough tickets. And then, yeah, I ended up suing her and winning year, like a year later, in recouped, you know, a small percentage of that, but it was that was a tough night. Yeah.
