Let’s dive straight into it. Tell us a little bit about your background, how you ended up in entrepreneurship. We were having a little bit of chat prior to this. But yeah, yeah, give us a rundown.
Matt Orlic 1:58
To give a bit of context. So I started on 17. And people kind of deemed me as the whore of entrepreneurship. And as the wise compared, and it wasn’t like I was the high class whore, I was the cheap one doing like, you know, rim jobs, $50, on the street, etc. I did everything in anything, everything from outdoor advertising, to watches to chocolate to laser clinics, you know, I think was about 20 different companies that started in the last 10 or so years, I think was just off the was more of the wisdom acquisition, I think has been too early on, there’s more just trying to try to learn and for myself in the deep end, and I don’t know really what I wanted to do. And about seven years ago, what we used to actually we started about 10 years ago was with developing brands and selling them to mass retailers like bricks and mortar stores. As we develop seven brands and hyper niche them and categories like better, we’re doing power banks, we’d have a brand called juice up and just for power banks drones, we did a brand new drones with speakers with speakers as sports crew to sports equipment. So they had multiple brands read all these bricks and mortar stores, then overnight, we one of them went bustles a billion dollar company and we lost about four to $5 million or exactly, overnight. So that was a big reality check as to how vulnerable we were just, you know, rely on these big small stores didn’t own the customers. And that’s we made the move to digital. And that’s why we had to make that pivot. That’s when I started building the team in house and started taking our brands from you know, the the distribution model of going to brick and mortar stores and put it online. And a couple years on from that. The team that we built, yeah, was I think, world class and we started getting requests to help other people for their brands. And then it was more like, it was more from like, a friendship standpoint, you know, people that you meet in the industry and, and the agency model I think we saw everyone’s like a sausage factories, you know, churning clients and the level of service ability or quality wasn’t there or care. So people getting burned left, right and center, who started helping one or two clients, and then people just prefer us to other people. And I guess that agency was kind of formed. But I think as I mentioned earlier, I don’t even like that word agency, I think we’re more of a HR company, like we’re really extended extension of someone’s brand or team. You know, like our account managers, I worked like four or five brands, they have the time and love and dedication to you know, spend the time and nurture these accounts and works like directly via WhatsApp or text or with all the owners of the founders or their marketing team. So that’s how we got to I guess digital marketing space. Yeah.
Joshua Chin 4:42
I love that. And I think that’s one of the reasons why we work pretty well together. And a lot of the common clients that we have, I’m not sure if you noticed, but we have 80 close to 80 people on the team at Chronos, but we only have 60 clients So we actually have more employees and then clients. And that really gives us that attention that we need to make every account and every brand a success. Tell me a little bit about your journey into from the beginning, like your mindset at the start versus what you currently have. And tell me a little bit more about authentic money that you’re just really just talking about.
Matt Orlic 5:26
Uh huh. Okay, we’ll dig down into philosophy.
Joshua Chin 5:29
I want to do that. Yeah.
